The Scottish Blues Alliance was set up after the New Orleans "Katrina disaster and it's first undertaking was to run a "benefit" for the musicians of New Orleans who had suffered during the hurricane. The event took place in the Blue Lamp in Aberdeen on October 29th. officially from midday to midnight but in fact ran on until 2am. with a monster "Jam". 12 Scottish Blues Bands took part in the benefit, all donating their time, energy and talent for free. From this event the idea of the Alliance took shape. Saturday February 4th. the "Steering Committee" met and during the course of that meeting the Constitution was agreed and a Committee elected. The Scottish Blues Alliance operates as a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting Blues throughout Scotland, while raising funds for "good causes". While we can never hope to surpass the atmosphere of October 29th. with all the camaraderie and goodwill of so many dedicated musicians, we can and will emulate it. Throughout the coming months we will be posting details here of forthcoming events and ideas with a view to building a community spirit in the Scottish Blues Scene.
