The Blues Scene in Scotland

I for one am deeply saddened by the current state of the Blues Scene in Scotland, the incessant bickering and backstabbing prevalent in the Scottish Blues Scene does nothing to promote the music. It is in fact detrimental to the promotion of awareness of Blues Music within Scotland.

For far too long now we have had a state of affairs where factions who purport to support Blues Music spend a great deal of energy attacking each other to the detriment of the music.

Let's start off in 2010 with a far more tolerant approach to this issue and to each other. It is not necessary for two events organisers to be at loggerheads 24/7. Surely it would be better for the music in the long run if they just agreed not to snipe at each other and at each others efforts.

If a rival/competitor is staging an event or gig, instead of the sniping and snide remarks about them or the quality of their event, simply mention that they are holding the event. Its not necessary to make a comment other than where and when the event is taking place, who is participating and whether or not there is a cover charge.

If you can't find in within yourself to say something good about an artist then its better to refrain from any comment at all.
