SBA's "Katrina Benefit" took place in The Blue Lamp, Aberdeen from Midday to Midnight with 12 Acts performing throughout the day, a Silent Auction and a raffle helped to boost the takings to just short of £2,000 which was mailed to the Tipotina Fund to help New Orleans musicians.
The event was a great success running on until 2.am due to demand from the crowd and thanks the generosity of Sandy Brown (the licensee)
Sunday December 4th.
At Dexters - Dundee, a collaboration between The Dundee Blues Bonanza, The Smokie Blues (Arbroath) and The Scottish Blues Alliance are staging a Benefit featuring a number of Top Scottish Blues Acts, including Wolftrain, Blues House and PapaMojo with
Alaskan Blues Guitarist "Son" Henry and his band.
It promises to be another great day of Blues:
Dates are now fixed for both The Dundee Blues Bonanza and the Arbroath Smokie Blues Festival
Arbroath 15th. and 16th. July
There may be a gig at Arbroath on the Friday 14th. (Watch this Space)
Aberdeen Blues Festival
The SBA are currently fund raising in order to stage a one day, one venue, two stages Aberdeen Blues Festival in The Blue Lamp during the September weekend with 10 Workshops being held throughout the week leading up to the event and a "Masterclass" on the Sunday.
Sponsorship is welcomed from local businesses as well as Multi-Nationals.
Orkney Annual Blues Festival is not taking place this year for various reasons but SBA members are attempting to organise a "Blues Caravan" type weekend with between 6 and 10 Acts performing in the one venue and Workshops held where possible.
