The Smokie Blues Festival came back with a vengance in Carnoustie on the weekend of
August 14th. - 16th. with a knockout list of artists.
Alfie, Brian, Lyla and team worked their asses off to make this happen and it did, in style.
What a great Weekend of Blues served up to a hungry crowd by people who do it not for profit or personal gain but for the love of the music.
We (PapaMojo) had a great time performing there as had every performer I spoke to and that was just about all of them. A lovely laid back atmosphere put the crowd into a relaxed mood and ready to enjoy the servings of Blues, both electric and acoustic. Having it all happen under one roof was a great idea just a pity about the bar pricing but that I'm sure will be ironed out.
The Standard of performers was in the main quite high with just two or three exceptions. Highlights for me were Wang Dang Delta, Lil' Ian Goodsman, Kent DuChaine, Werner Lindner and his Flaming Stratmen and the utterly fantastic Gipsy Dave Smith.
Those of you who didn't come along for even one day missed out big time.
We wish Alfie and his team every success and hope that the funding is forthcoming for a Smokie Blues 2010.
